According to the USGS, the global reserve increase from 2015 to 2020 is approximately 17 million tons, and Indonesia increased production by 16.5 million tons. In terms of production, global nickel mine growth about 230,000 tons, Indonesia's increase was 640,000 tons, accounting for 279% of the global increase.

Features of this process:
1. Replace electric furnace with oxygen-enrich side blown furnace, greatly reducing energy consumption and production costs,calculated based on production cost per processing tons of roasted sand, the oxygen-enriched side-blown furnace can save about 20USD compared with the traditional electric furnace process. Calculated by one production line of 1 million tons of Laterite nickel ore, our process can save about 11 million USD per year for a single line.
2. No need for high-temperature sand transfer, avoiding the danger during transfer, reducing equipment investment and manpower requirements, and improving the operating environment.
3. The process design is more reasonable, the flue gas from the oxygen-enriched side blown furnace is directly sent to the wet ore drying kiln as a drying heat source, reducing fuel consumption and improving energy utilization.
4. The layout of the production line is more compact and reasonable, reducing land demand.

Process Flow
Process Description
The roasted 700-800°C laterite nickel ore, auxiliary materials, and reducing agent from the roasting reduction kiln directly enter the side-blown furnace. Oxygen-enriched air is blown into the furnace and lignite is injected. Under the action of oxygen air, it melts quickly and completes the reaction, generating nickel sulfur and slag in the reaction zone. The oxygen-enriched side-blown furnace is equipped with an electric heated front bed, and the nickel sulfur and slag in the oxygen-enriched side-blown furnace flow to the electric heated front bed together. The electric heating front bed is equipped with nickel sulfur and slag discharge ports. The nickel sulfur is put into ladles and transported to the blowing process. The slag is granulated by water quenching. All feeding, gas distribution, furnace condition monitoring, smoke exhaust monitoring and subsequent environmental protection facilities are controlled by the DCS control system in the central control room.
