RE TECH Supports Successful Start-Up of Tianneng’s Recycling Project

2026.10.09

On July 27, a major milestone was reached at Zhejiang Tianneng’s waste lead-acid battery recycling project, which has an annual processing capacity of 650,000 tons: the smelting system was successfully commissioned, with the first feed-in operation completed successfully. The RE TECH project team joined Tianneng’s management and frontline production teams to witness this important moment.

Located in Changxing, Zhejiang Province, the project is a key initiative in Tianneng Group’s battery resource recycling strategy. The smelting system is equipped with core oxygen-enriched side-blown smelting equipment, a waste heat boiler, a circulating water system, and a gas supply system. All units operate stably and work in close coordination, enabling the recycling and regeneration of waste lead-acid batteries and establishing a complete production chain for lead resource recovery and reuse.

Throughout the project construction phase, all personnel remained on the front lines, covering every stage from equipment manufacturing and delivery to on-site installation, integrated system commissioning, and technical support for furnace start-up. Faced with tight deadlines, complex procedures, and other significant challenges, the project team established a clear division of responsibilities, coordinated resources efficiently, and advanced each task in an orderly manner, successfully achieving the construction objectives.

As the project approached the initial feeding and production stage, Han Xu, RE TECH’s Technical Director of Engineering, personally led the team in conducting comprehensive equipment inspections, identifying and addressing potential issues, and verifying every aspect of the start-up preparations. He also organized technical discussions between key specialists from both companies to review operating procedures, refine implementation plans, and standardize operating practices. Every detail was carefully examined to ensure a safe and successful furnace start-up. Meanwhile, RE TECH organized hands-on furnace operation sessions and specialized training on smelting processes for production personnel. The training provided detailed guidance on critical operational procedures, including precise furnace temperature control and the coordinated operation of waste heat recovery equipment, laying a solid foundation for the successful start-up.

At 8:58 a.m. on July 27, the charging of liquid bottom lead officially commenced, and the Zhejiang Tianneng production line simultaneously entered the trial production phase. Throughout the operation, the equipment ran smoothly, all process stages proceeded seamlessly, and every process parameter remained within the normal operating range. The system completed slag discharge successfully at 9:30 p.m. that evening, and by 1:00 a.m. the following day, lead tapping was proceeding smoothly and without interruption.
